Ryan Swanson on the Creation of Athletic Conferences in the Age of Jim Crow

On September 27, Ryan Swanson, Assistant Professor of History and Director of the Sports and American Culture Program at George Mason University, will be speaking about the creation of athletic conference in the age of Jim Crow. His talk, entitled “Picking the Right Rivals: Debating the ‘One-Year Rule,’ Boycotting the Iron Bowl, and Forming College Athletic Conferences during the Gilded Age,” will take place at 4:30 pm in Gorgas Library Room 205.
